kakairupowns: [House M.D.] Wilson - I Dare You To Make Less Sense (Wilson-Sense)
Um… yeah. Pretty sure this is the first time my icon has been so appropriate.

I was in the basement, sorta half-listening to the TV and doing some reading when my brother flipped over to some random channel in his channel-surfing, and it was something like A&E or Discovery. I can't remember now, but the only reason I remember it in the first place is because he stayed on this channel, which is something he rarely does. Watching TV with him is like sitting on the couch and getting snippets of every single channel we get. He can never make up his mind, and some days that really pisses me off, but most of the time I'm doing something else and don't mind.

Anyway, sorry to ramble. T stayed on this channel for a bit, so words began filtering through to actually reach my brain instead of being white noise, and I heard "art" "famous" and "cheese". My head came up so fast I probably got whiplash.

It was about an "artist", and I use that term quite loosely, who spent his entire life creating works of art out of cheese. And I don't mean he sculpts figurines, or builds statues, or anything like that. No. He takes gallons upon gallons of cheese, melts it down, and filters it through something like a fire-hose, and then proceeds to spray it across all manner of objects to create "art".

T and I were both staring at the TV in disbelief, as the narrator went on and on about this guy's achievements and world renown he's gotten for his work. Here's the conversation I had with my brother.

T: … Come again?
Me: Um…
T: I think… I think he's being applauded on his artwork.
Me: What artwork?
T: Well, he… he…
Me: Did he just coat that entire house in melted cheese?
T: Looks like it. I think people are even paying him to let them watch.
Me: … You're joking.
T: Nope, listen.

We hear the narrator saying just that.

Me: … wtf, world.
T: Heck, if that's art, my stick-figures should fetch a fortune.

So, yeah. Seriously. Cheese? What gives? People are weird.

Hello, my wonderful flist!

Yes, I am aware that New Year's was a couple of days ago, but I was too busy to come 'round and post. :D So, here I am!

Firstly, I hope that you all have a wonderful 2010, and that all of your resolutions come to pass! (or that you at least make significant headway.) I'm in the middle of responding to tons of backlog in comments and posts, because I'm an exceedingly lazy person and haven't finished that yet.

Secondly, my resolutions! :D

1. Lose weight. Hopefully somewhere around twenty or thirty pounds.
2. Exercise more. Got the P-90X Exercise Workout Videos from D on my birthday, and we've yet to use them. *headdesk* In my defense, he got them for me right around the holidays, and I cannot possibly be expected to keep up with such a rigorous program around that time. I mean, really.
3. Write more. I have troves of original fic sitting on my hard drive, not posted nor completed. Also still owe several wonderful people fic from me, in a few different fandoms.

So, there we go. ;) Let's see if I'm able to keep this up! I'm just about done with replies to comments, etc. and have about an hour before TaeKwonDo tonight.

I love you all, flist, and once again HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!! *snuggle-glomps*

P.S. - I have a new love, and that is Sherlock Holmes. *points to icon* These two make me smile. :) Any recs on great fic avec le H/W slash would be much appreciated. :D

kakairupowns: Genius by birth-slacker by choice (Genius-Slacker)
When I was in 8th grade, my Language Arts teacher had just transferred over from teaching at a college university and it was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. At the end of the year, she decided to give us a final exam, like we would expect in both high school and college. All year long she'd encouraged us to read the tests through all the way before beginning them, and on the bottom of the final exam on the last page, in teeny-tiny print was written: "Do not answer any of these questions. Write your name, the date, and pass this in."

I'd gotten through a good part of the exam by then, and went up and passed it in after reading that.

Old habits die hard, I guess; I found myself checking all of my finals this year to see if there was a note like that. :D Alas, no luck. Still, it could happen this spring! XD

G'night, flist!

I just got up and checked the thermostat.

10˚ F. Holy. Crapcakes. That's cold. >_>

Do. Not. Want.

ETA: With windchill, it's now -20˚F. ;_;

kakairupowns: The motto of procrastinators. (Procrastination)
Hey everyone!

I'm procrastinating in a major way tonight (this morning?) because my story for the kakairu_fest is due tomorrow, before midnight. I'm a moron and started this thing only a couple of days ago and it's turning into a monster. Well, a monster by my standards, which is only a few thousand words. BUT. I discovered (via Stef) the interesting world of Plurk. It's sorta like instant messaging, and is hella-fun.

So, yeah. As part of my procrastinating, I'm encouraging everyone to go and join up with Plurk! (just go to www.plurk.com) :D

That's it from me tonight. I'm gonna be typing like mad tomorrow, and I'll probably go to bed in a little bit.

Much love to everyone! *squishes flist*

Argh, I HATE writer's block! >_< I have a few stories to write for people (sorry it's taking so long!) and I cannot think of what to write. I need prompts, even just for drabbles to inspire me. You wouldn't believe how much stuff I've trashed because it's not coming out right. :/ Nothing seems to work, and it's driving me crazy.

So, prompts, anyone? It can be  a word, a phrase, quote, line, question, ANYTHING! I'm hitting a brick wall, and it's not fun.

Happiness Meme! Last day <3

Day 8: Drove down to Borders this afternoon with my little brother, and I bought two new books with a gift card I got a couple months ago! :D I got The Codex by Douglas Preston and The Terminal Man by Michael Crichton. They're both murder/mystery/thrillers, and I've already started The Codex. :) I've got a warm, purring cat on my lap and am curled up in my room with a new book. *happy sigh* That's pretty much all I need. ;)

Day 7: I baked brownies today! I haven't baked in a long while, but my brothers were both feeling kinda morose today. Older brother is still looking for a job, and younger brother has just begun the job-hunt. So, I decided to try and cheer them up and I was craving sweets. They're downright mean when they're unhappy, and neither of them has any patience to speak of. *shrugs* But hey. Brownies. :D They're double-chocolate fudge brownies, with chunks of mini-Hershey Kisses and bits of milk chocolate mixed in. XD I had the hardest time not eating all of the batter. ;) Chocolate = WIN.

G'night flist!

Ah, Sunday~

Happiness Meme Time

Day 6: Sunday is definitely one of my favorite days of the week. I slept late, and woke up to my cell. It was one of my friends, calling to hang out at the mall. Now, when we go to the mall, it's just over a fifteen minute drive and we've been there so many times that we know it like the back of our hands. We rarely ever buy anything, because it's… the mall. We don't shop there, we people-watch. :D We cruised over to the section in front of Best Buy inside the mall and parked our butts on the borderline comfy couches placed out front. Then, we watched. I'm telling you, if you've never people-watched, you need to. It's absolutely hilarious in the summertime, when all of the tourists are up for vacation. We sit there and keep a running commentary on everything, from what they're wearing to their size to their looks. With Jeff, we check out potential dates. He's got the strangest scale for it, too. Instead of from 1-10, he judges from 10-100. Don't ask why, I don't know. Needless to say, I had fun. :D We chowed down Ben&Jerry's and vegged there for several hours, and had a great time. XD
kakairupowns: [One Piece] Luffy ~ adorable (Luffy)
Happiness abounds!

Day 5: *happy sigh* Today happened like all Saturdays should. It started with me sleeping in until about noon, before spending the entire day doing absolutely nothing. I watched TV (re-runs of favorite shows, an awesome movie or two while munching on popcorn and guzzling down soda), vegged on the uber-comfortable chair that my older brother brought home from college, and never got out of my pajamas. :D It was relatively nice out and not miserably hot and muggy, so there was an amazing cross-breeze in the den (my vegging habitat). When TV failed to be a competent distraction, I pulled out my laptop and watched anime. For four hours straight. XD Then read fanfiction until dinner, rediscovering my love of older slash pairings (for me anyways. Been craving KakaIru lately, which I haven't read regularly in over a year.) and immersed myself in the wonderful world that is the internet.

All-in-all, a great day. :D

Day 2: My brother (in a spontaneous fit of generosity, no doubt) bought me a new cd! It's Kenny Chesney, Lucky Old Sun. He knows that Kenny is my most recent love, and he was in the mall today with his not-dating-just-seeing-each-other friend Kristin. Yay impulse buys! Country music is something I'd been listening to on and off for a few years now, and the I got a job at Cabela's, and that's all they played. All. The. Time. Needless to say, I got hooked. My favorites are Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, Rodney Atkins and Alan Jackson.

Ha, yeah I know, that's a lot of favorites. XD I can't help it! I like a few from some of them, and loads from others. Country music is my newest addiction.

01. Post something about today that made you happy, even if it's only a small thing.
02. Do this everyday for eight days without fail!
03. Tag eight of your friends to do the same.

Day 1: Earlier today (day off!) I went to the movies with one of my best friends, and we saw The Ugly Truth with Gerard Butler and Catherine Heigl. *omgsquee!!!* It was hilarious, in many, many ways. XD Mal and I laughed so hard we cried at some parts. :D God, I love hanging out with her. We’re a couple of dorks, and are planning on sitting down this weekend and watching Disney movies all day. XD This weekend is gonna rock.

I tag… everyone on my flist! :D Nah, not really. But you should do this! It's always nice to talk about what makes you happy day-to-day. <3

kakairupowns: iPod earphones (iPod)
Totally random note, but I went shopping today and got a neat tape hook up for my car that lets me play my iPod. *squees like mad* I'm so psyched! I'm always flipping through stations on the radio, since I abhor commercials with a passion. I usually drive any passengers insane as I do so, and now I have a way to avoid that altogether! XXDDD Thrilled barely begins to describe how I feel.

(Yes, fyi, I am a total nerd. :D)

Hope you're all having a good day today, flist!

kakairupowns: [Scrubs] Dr. Cox (PSnarl)
My older brother really needs a car. As in, last month.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for letting him borrow it when he needs, it, but still. Days like today are a great example.

He stayed out until about one, and then brought his girlfriend (who lives fifteen minutes away) home to our house. This, I can deal with. It's his ass if my parents find out she stayed the night. He then needs to get her home at eight, so takes my car. Not a big deal, but then he doesn't come back.

I need my car to go to work at nine. Eight-fifty, and still no car. Anyone else see the problem?

Then when he got back, I had to take him to work by nine, and then go to work myself because we can't do it the other way around since he gets off work at 5.30 and I get off at 5.00. The post office closes at 5.00, so that's when I need to get packages out. So, harried morning, stressed out siblings, and angry bosses.

To top it all off, it's raining. AGAIN.

*sigh* Sometimes, I just want to strangle him for being such an idiot.
kakairupowns: [Stargate: SG-1] Jack - Who, me? (JWhoMe?)
Ugh, I hurt. Like, serious pain whenever I twist my torso.

Stupid me decided that, since it had FINALLY stopped raining after TWO FULL WEEKS of downpour, I would sit outside on the deck to read. It wasn't terribly sunny out, but it was nice and warm with a good breeze.

Of course I didn't bother to put on sunscreen. What's the point when you can't see the sun? *headdesk* Well obviously, I should have. My back and shoulders are a deep lobster red, and the only thing I can wear is a tanktop, because everything else chafes like crazy and puts me in a world of pain. Sunburn and my pale skin do. not. mix. *sigh* At least typing isn't going to hurt, as long as I refrain from pulling my arms up over my head or moving too much in general.

Anyway, my boring life aside, meme time! :D This one is a Word Association Meme, prompted by [personal profile] genuinelies . Love you sweetie. <3

Yeah, my rambling tendancies have struck again, I see. *sigh* Ah well, what can you do?

I should be working right now, sending out for which classes I want. But, boredom hit. Hard. :D And memes are fun.

We had a jumper, and I don't think I've ever been so shocked in my life.

Cut because… this is the kind of thing people don't want to suddenly find themselves reading about. )
Um… sorry about that. I had to get it out, and feel free to totally pass over this if you want.
kakairupowns: [Stargate: SG-1] Daniel - Translate THAT (DTranslateThat)
UGH!!!! I just want to pick up Rodney and throw him against the wall. HARD. (Rodney is laptop, I do not have any little kids around for throwing purposes. That's mean.)

He just… just… gah. The internet has been fluxing on and off all day, and just when I'm ready to do something, he decides that, no, sorry, it's NOT GONNA WORK!!! My dad can usually get on, but whenever I try, forget about it. It's like he knows when I'm gonna do something, and denies me every time. (Only on now because I'm "borrowing" our neighbors internet.)

*fumes* Rodney throws little tantrums like this, and it makes me just want to beat him repeatedly against something really hard. Like cement. Or brick. Something. Geez.

Well, rant done. For now. Can't promise anything for later. At least I didn't have anything really pressing to get done online today. :(

kakairupowns: The red pen editing section of my brain just tried to light itself on fire. (Red Pen)
Started writing for the first time in months it seems. XD I have a huge grin on my face, even though this fic is driving me insane. >_> Writing is so fun for me, and relaxing at the same time. It feels like I can breathe for once, and it's awesome. :D

*cuddles f-list* Geez, so much crap is happening in RL, my whole f-list (practically) is all down and out. It's depressing, so…

You're all awesome and wonderful and I don't know what I'd do without you, so cheer up. Smile. :) It always works for me.

kakairupowns: (Ba'al)
Hey all,

Just checking in. Some of you who were friends with me last year know that I had something pretty horrible happen right in my neighborhood, and you can check this post if you didn't know.

Well, today is the anniversary of their deaths. Matt has recently been in court and has pled guilty for his crimes, and will most likely be sentenced to life. Maine isn't a state where we apply the death penalty, so he'll probably spend the rest of his life in jail, in a high-security cell. I'm not sure where they'll send him, but it'll be far away from here.

I think… I think I'll always remember that day. I was on errands today, and was in the DMV with a friend when I glanced up at the wall and saw the date in huge numbers, and my mind went blank. I got really quiet, and am still feeling a little withdrawn. Something like that really hits home, and I doubt I'll ever forget it.
